Create an Earn Rule

Loyalty allows you to create a new Earn Rule either by creating it from scratch, or by copying an existing Earn Rule to use as the basis for the new Earn Rule.

Create an Earn Rule

To create an Earn Rule from scratch:

  1. Select Rules from the top navigation bar, then select Earn Rules from the side navigation menu. The Earn Rules screen is displayed.

  2. In the Display Name field, enter the name of the new Earn Rule.

  3. Click Create. The Edit Earn Rule pop-up window is displayed.

  1. The Display Name field is populated with the value you entered above; optionally edit this value.

  2. The Internal Name is automatically populated based on the Display Name value. This field is not editable by default. To edit the Internal Name, check Edit Internal Name. A confirmation dialog box is displayed; click Ok. Edit the Internal Name value.

  3. Optionally, in the Description field, enter a description of this item.

  4. From the Rule Grouping drop-down menu, select the Earn Rule Group to which you want to assign this Earn Rule. For more information on Earn Rule Groups, see Getting Started with Earn Rule Groups.

  5. From the Activity Type drop-down menu, select the Activity Type that this Earn Rule will "listen" for. When a Member performs the selected Activity Type, the Earn Rule executes. For more information on Activity Types, see Getting Started with Activity Types.

  6. From the Metric drop-down menu, select the Metric that this Earn Rule will calculate when a Member performs the selected Activity Type. For more information on Metrics, see Getting Started with Member Metrics.

  7. Click Save.

The Earn Rule is added to the Earn Rules screen. By default, the new Earn Rule is added to the bottom of the Earn Rule Group you selected above. See Rearrange Earn Rules for details on how to move an Earn Rule within its Group.

Copy an Earn Rule

To copy an existing Earn Rule:

  1. Select Rules from the top navigation bar, then select Earn Rules from the side navigation menu. The Earn Rules screen is displayed.

  2. Optionally, search for the desired Earn Rule (see Search for an Earn Rule for more information on the available search options).

  3. Optionally, expand an Earn Rule Group by clicking the Expand icon next to its name.

  4. Next to desired Earn Rule, click the Copy icon.

  1. The platform creates a copy of the Earn Rule. The default name of the new Earn Rule is the name of the base Earn Rule followed by a counter, such as "(1)."

The newly copied Earn Rule is added to the same Earn Rule Group as the base Earn Rule. By default, the new Earn Rule is added to the bottom of this Earn Rule Group. See Rearrange Earn Rules for details on how to move an Earn Rule within its Group.
